Stained Glass

“I am fascinated by glass as a medium for its dualities. It is strong yet fragile, solid yet molecularly unstable and,

unlike other mediums, glass is affected by illumination, both the presence and absence of,

creating a different experience for the viewer that is dependent upon light.”

Terry Zigmund graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY with a degree in Psychology and Art Therapy, in 1990. Her interest in art and exploring new mediums led her to take a continuing education class in stained glass in 1991. She immediately became fascinated with the medium and continued to read about and experiment with it.

The desire to live in a community more culturally and artistically rich, led her to move to Burlington, VT in 1998. She immediately opened a studio in the vibrant South End of Burlington and began making and teaching stained glass and mosaic. She has taught for Frog Hollow, Burlington City Arts, Burlington Community Schools Project, VSA Arts Vermont, The Community College of Vermont and Senior Centers in Chittenden County. In 2004 Terry left her full time job in human services to devote her attention to her stained glass career. She continued to teach and create stained glass. As her work became more and more popular, she stopped teaching and focused all of her energy on creating art.

Terry has been commissioned to create windows for restaurants, bed and breakfasts and private residences in across North America.  Terry

continues to create a diverse body of work that is exhibited and sold in galleries throughout North America and on her website. Terry’s studio is the located in Burlington's South End Arts District and is the anchor of the E-1 Studio Collective, a group of 10 artists, each of whom has their own studio space, and includes a small gallery where their work is exhibited.
